Air Fryer French Toast
The air fryer in this air-fryer French toast recipe delivers a crispy outside and tender middle, with all the classic flavors dressed up with fresh strawberries and a drizzle of maple syrup.
Ingredients
- 4 large eggs
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- cooking spray
- 8 slices whole-wheat sandwich bread, divided
- 1 cup sliced strawberries
- 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
Directions
- Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla together in a wide shallow dish.
- Preheat air fryer to 325°F for 3 minutes. Lightly coat the basket with cooking spray. Dip 4 bread slices in the egg mixture, flipping constantly until completely soaked, about 15 seconds; arrange in a single layer in the prepared basket. Coat the tops with cooking spray; cook, flipping and coating with additional cooking spray halfway, until golden brown and crisped outside and no longer wet inside, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a platter and cover with foil to keep warm. Repeat the process with the remaining 4 bread slices and egg mixture.
- Cut the French toast pieces diagonally in half to form triangles, or leave as whole slices, if preferred. Serve with strawberries and maple syrup.
