Air Fryer Grilled Cheese Sandwiches
Make these sandwiches with your favorite type of apple. Give Granny Smith, Gala or Pink Lady a try. If you don't love arugula, try romaine or spinach.
Ingredients
- 8 slices whole-grain bread
- ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- ¼ cup honey mustard
- 1 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
- 1 apple, cored and thinly sliced
- 2 cups arugula
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Directions
- Preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- Arrange bread on a cutting board and brush one side of each slice with oil (about 1/2 tablespoon per slice). Flip the bread oiled-sides down and spread about 1/2 tablespoon honey mustard on each. Layer Monterey Jack, apple, arugula and mozzarella evenly on 4 slices. Top with the remaining 4 slices (oiled-sides up).
- Working in batches as necessary, arrange the sandwiches in a single layer in the air-fryer basket. Cook, flipping once, until the cheese is melted, 4 to 5 minutes.
